TheMindfulPause App

A small companion for everyday moments.

Coming soon — Android first, iOS to follow.

Most of us don’t forget how to pause.

We forget to pause.

Not because anything is missing — but because life moves quickly, and attention gets pulled in many directions.

The gauges climb. The list grows. The day moves faster than it seemed like it would.

This app exists as a simple reminder.

Not to change anything. Not to improve anything.

Just a gentle bell, from time to time, in the middle of an ordinary day.

An invitation to set things down — for a breath or two, a moment or two — and then continue on.

A Simple Invitation

At intervals you choose, a soft bell or gong tone is heard.

Nothing urgent. Nothing to respond to.

Just a small opening in the day.

A reminder to either pause for a moment — or continue with what you’re doing.

Either way is fine.

What This Is

We whimsically call this a “gap app” — where it simply provides small invitations to briefly pause during your day — where you can simply take a moment to notice, rest, or relax, or do nothing at. Just momentary small “gaps” in your day for a brieft reset.

This is not a meditation app.

There are no sessions. No lessons. No progress tracking. No streaks to maintain. No pressure applied.

Nothing to complete. Nothing to build.

It simply offers small moments where tension can soften a little — and awareness can move on its own.

The Pause Itself

When the bell or gong sounds, a brief phrase can appear alongside it — this is optional, set by you — a quiet invitation to notice something in the field of perception. A sensation, a sound, a thought passing through, a slight tension or ease in the body.

These are not instructions. They don’t ask you to feel anything in particular or arrive anywhere specific.

They simply offer a small direction for attention — if you want it.

There are three sets to choose from, each with a different texture:

Guided Prompts gently direct attention toward immediate sensory experience — sound, texture, temperature, movement, breath.

Feel how something fits in your hand. Listen for layers of sound. Notice the next exhale.

Simply Noticing offers the same sensory territory in a slightly wider, more open frame — as if joining something already in progress.

…shadows shift with light. …breath arriving. …something close, something far.

Rest and Release moves into quieter ground — inviting a temporary setting-down of what’s being carried.

…a concern, not solved — just not held. …nothing required, just a brief pause. …what you’ve been holding doesn’t have to be held quite so tightly, just for a moment.

You can use any set, switch between them, or turn the words off entirely.

The bell works on its own.

Simple by Design

You can choose:

  • when pauses appear
  • how often they arrive
  • the bell or gong tone that accompanies them
  • which prompt set appears alongside the bell — Guided Prompts, Simply Noticing, or Rest and Release — or no words at all

These settings are there if you want them.

You can change them at any time — or leave them alone.

Privacy and Simplicity

The app is intentionally small.

There are no ads. No tracking. No data collection.

Your settings stay on your device. Nothing is stored, shared, or analyzed.

Privacy here is not a feature — it is simply how this was built, and how it will remain.

Built by Two People

TheMindfulPause was built by a small, independent father-and-son team.

No investors. No growth targets. No structural pressure to hold your attention longer than you want to give it.

It is designed to be simple, stable, and sufficient — not to scale endlessly.

If you appreciate software that is transparent, unhurried, and not driven by platform incentives — this may feel both familiar and comfortable.

If It Fits

This may be useful if:

  • you feel pulled in many directions
  • you’re carrying a lot through the day
  • you prefer simple tools over structured systems
  • you’re not looking for another program to follow

It may not be useful if you’re looking for:

  • guided sessions
  • structured practices
  • measurable progress
  • performance or improvement

There are many excellent tools for those things.

This is something quieter.

That’s All

You can use the app often. Or occasionally.

You can ignore it. Turn it off. Delete it entirely.

Nothing depends on it.

It’s simply there — like a bench along a path — if and when you might want to sit for a moment.

TheMindfulPause is part of the Easy Mindfulness for Everyone ecosystem. A dedicated website for the app is currently in development — a link will be added here when it becomes available.
